As you may know, scissors cut by shearing, not by cutting. Also, conventional scissors typically do not fail because they get dull, they fail because the hinge gets loose separating the ability to shear effectively. Conventional scissors get loose over time because of the lateral pressure being applied to the blades during their use. Conventional scissors must be made with relatively narrow shearing angles between the blades as they are heat treated in order to increase the edge strength. This heat treatment reduces the flexibility and makes the blades more brittle. The overall effect is that the blades must be set at a very narrow angulation.

The Flex Series Scissors are designed to have a 300% increase in its shearing angulation compared to conventional scissors. The result is that, no mater what is being cut, any lateral pressure placed on the blades is not enough to separate the blades guaranteeing superior cutting efficiency and less damage to the tissue.

A conventional scissor can cut 3-4 layers of latex before it will be damaged. The Flex Series Scissors can cut up to 64 layers of latex with zero damage. Other scissors shear effectively for months, while the GoldenDent Flex Series Scissors will shear effectively for years.
